Turn Messages Into Action: Introducing the FloQast Slack Integration

Who knew Slackers were so productive?

Slack, with 12 million daily active users — up more than a third from one year ago — is the emerging standard for business communications. It’s superior to email in many ways, mostly because it keeps messaging organized, clutter-free, and integrates elegantly with other software — and it does all this in real time.

That’s why FloQast is so excited that we’ve now integrated with Slack, and created a new FloQast app for Slack — a first of its kind for close management software.

By integrating with team messaging, we make accounting teams more efficient by allowing them to interact with FloQast content and functionality directly from Slack. For example, consider what Slack can add to FloQast Review Notes, which FloQast teams use to create mini conversations and review evidence tied to specific procedures or reconciliations. When a new Review Note is created, its new assignee receives a real-time notification in Slack, and can reply to that Review Note directly from Slack. Importantly, a full record of the Review Note and its replies is maintained in FloQast, regardless of whether replies came via Slack or directly in FloQast.

In many ways, by this Slack integration, FloQast joins a conversation that accounting teams are already having in Slack. A recent FloQast survey found that more than 60 percent of FloQast teams are actively using Slack. Via our integration, close data and interactions can add significant value to that conversation. Here are a few more ways a FloQast Slack integration adds value for accountants:

• Real-time Slack notifications for reviewers that all preparation tasks are fully signed off, so it’s ready for review.
• Personalized summary notifications of items that are past due but not yet signed off.
• Ability to query FloQast from Slack for a real-time update such as items due tomorrow, or status of individual tasks.

And, remember, Slack exists on mobile devices too, so anything FloQast builds into its Slack app will be available for interacting with FloQast while on the go.

We’ve got plenty of ideas for net-new functionality that’s not yet in FloQast, but takes advantage of Slack’s special capabilities. You’ll be hearing about those in the coming weeks and months. The possibilities are nearly endless, so expect us to continue to push the boundaries of this exciting new set of capabilities.
