That’s All, Folks: Taking a Look at What Happened at FloQast TakeControl 2022
And with that, TakeControl: Accounting Amped Up 2022 is in the books!
For the last few months, the FloQast team has been working hard planning the fourth-annual FloQast user conference, and the resulting event did not disappoint. On September 21-22, over 2,000 FloQast users were treated to 22 CPE and/or CPD-eligible sessions, marking the biggest TakeControl to date.
Featuring insights from experts in the U.S. and the U.K., the event kicked off Wednesday morning with a panel discussion hosted by Adam Zoucha, Managing Director, FloQast EMEA. Over the subsequent panels, attendees heard from FloQast co-founders Mike Whitmire and Chris Sluty about the strategic shift accountants face in the wake of global instability. Later, Chris was joined by Product Manager Marc Reicher to give users a look at what FloQast is working on.
Over the course of the next day and a half, accounting leaders and experts discussed everything from how a recession will impact accounting teams, mitigating burnout amongst employees, how to deploy technology most efficiently, and best practices for using FloQast.
However, this year’s TakeControl wasn’t all business. This year featured the first official FloQast user awards, with winners receiving a custom engraved trophy and having the opportunity to name a charity to which FloQast will make a monetary donation. Lovevery Controller Ashley Griesshammer took home the Controller of the Year prize, topping customer-nominated controllers for her improvement of processes and formalization of the accounting function at Lovevery as the organization continues to scale. This includes a full order-to-cash implementation of NetSuite and consistent hard-closing of months for the first time in the calendar year 2022, among other accomplishments. Her creation of the first accounting and finance internship program at Lovevery to develop young students interested in a career path in accounting was also a major factor in her win.
Additional award honorees included:
- Operational Excellence Award – Rene Jacques, Corporate Controller, Shapeways – recognized for exceptional, innovative use of FloQast ReMind, Ops, Flux and AutoRec to enable 360-degree visibility across the accounting team, reducing time to close.
- Best Material Impact Award – Geena Lewis, Accounting Manager, PulteGroup – recognized for early adoption of FloQast ReMind to manage 102 active requests to empower more collaborative thinking from a brand and shared services perspective.
- Office of the CFO Innovation Award – Jennifer Lennon, Vice President of Accounting and Finance, FlightAware – recognized for early adoption of FloQast Ops and a unique application of the solution to identify repetitive payroll tasks to streamline both upstream and downstream processes.
This year’s event also featured a handful of very special guests. For the second consecutive year, attendees were treated to a performance by everyone’s favorite saxophone-playing sasquatch, Saxsquatch, who treated attendees to covers of classics like Funkytown (Lipps Inc.), Dreams (Fleetwood Mac), and Sir Duke (Stevie Wonder), as well as a handful of other, more contemporary jams that I’m just not cool enough to know.
