The FloQast Family: Accounting is in Our DNA
As a company, while transitioning from a very strong finish to 2016 into what is going to be an incredibly impactful 2017, we sat down with our team and asked ourselves those essential “identity” questions — what makes us unique? Who are we, and why are we here?
Here at FloQast, we believe accountants can do much more than just accounting. At its core, FloQast is comprised mainly of accountants, solving their own problems to help their clients do the same and empowering them with tools to achieve greater strategic value.
Who We Are
As an accountant turned founder, Mike Whitmire’s focus from inception was on hiring CPAs across all departments, including sales, business development, customer success and software development. These team members all bring an accounting/audit perspective to FloQast, which results in forward-thinking, hard-working employees with an in-depth understanding of the industry and their clients.
Since our team is built from the same fabric as that of our customers, our culture is all about the customer. We understand the customer because as accountants, we were/are the customer.
For all employees, whether they’re from the accounting world or not, Whitmire believes in the potential of employees to “punch above their weight class,” as he calls it. Employees who excel in their roles are quickly promoted and afforded opportunities to make an even greater impact. By promoting from within and placing CPAs into new roles, FloQast and our clients benefit from their expertise while employees see the opportunity for rapid growth and feel empowered to contribute more to the business than their functional role.
Why We Are
FloQast was created by accountants for accountants to close their books faster and more accurately. To us, this is even bigger than redefining how a critical business function (the financial close) is performed.
The current state of the close process, at most companies, is the root of what makes an accountant’s job incredibly stressful and chaotic. A recent study validates this – 82% of accountants find the month-end close to be a negative experience:
- 60% report increased stress levels
- 36% report it impacting personal relationships
- 19% report missing regular life events
This is a huge problem in the accounting world, and our vision to solve it is fueled by personal pains with this process. That’s why it’s astonishing to us that FloQast is the only solution out there that has taken the approach we have to managing the close process, which streamlines the way accountants are already working (and plays nice with the systems they are already using).
But, don’t take our word for it — our customers talk us up just fine. As a result of this approach, FloQast was named 2017 Best Software for Finance Teams by G2 Crowd, an end-user review site, and boasts an impressive 80 Net Promoter Score (NPS).
And, we’re growing fast. Last year we grew our workforce by almost 90%, opened a new office in Ohio and increased revenue by more than 300% year-over-year. We brought on hundreds of new customers, names you might recognize include Zillow, GrubHub, Mashable and the Golden State Warriors.
