Here at FloQast, our philosophy is to help you organize your month end close process by working the way you already work. In order to do that, FloQast integrates with the most trusted third party cloud storage providers, mirroring your existing folder structure and pulling ending balances directly from your Excel workbooks. This allows you to review all account reconciliations and supporting documents on one screen.
This post will walk you through how to preview and edit those supporting documents without leaving the app.
In the documents section, each file is a link to the item in your cloud storage provider:
When you click the link in FloQast, a read-only preview of the document will be opened in a new tab. If the link doesn’t do anything, please make sure your pop-ups are not blocked.
A read-only version may be useful if you are quickly reviewing a static document, such as a PDF invoice or contract.
Each provider works a little differently. I will break down each one below, showing how you can open an editable version of this document for each of our storage partners: Box, Google Drive and Dropbox.
Once you have download Box Sync for your desktop, you can then download Box Edit. Box Edit allows you to open files on your desktop directly from your browser. Once installed, you will have the option to open any Excel file from the preview link in FloQast:
Another nice option with Box is connecting to Office 365 and using the web version of Excel. If you click the option for Excel online, you will be prompted to enter your Office 365 credentials. Either way will give you an editable file directly from the link in FloQast.
Once you have downloaded Google Drive for your desktop, you can then download a Chrome extension for the Google Application Launcher for Drive. Once you have added this extension to Chrome, you will now have the option to open any file on your desktop:
Hitting the ‘Open’ button will open an Excel version on your desktop that is ready for editing.
Once you have installed Dropbox for your desktop, you now have the ability to open any file on your desktop from the web browser.
The ‘Open’ option will give you the opportunity to open the file on your desktop or Office 365. If you click the option for Excel Online, you will be prompted to enter your Office 365 credentials. Either way will give you an editable file directly from the link in FloQast.
