FloQast Named as One of LA Business Journal’s Best Places to Work in LA for Third Straight Year

Today, FloQast is exceedingly proud to announce that FloQast has been named to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Best Places to Work in Los Angeles for the third straight year. While it’s a tremendous honor to be named among the best places to work in LA, the fact that FloQast has made the list as one of the best small companies in 2017 and, later, one of the best medium-sized companies in 2018 and 2019 show the company’s dedication to its employees.
To illustrate what makes FloQast a special place to work, I recently spoke with two fellow employees about how the company supports them, what makes the company stand out, and what they love about working at FloQast.
Originally a stage actor, Kimmy Garrison has advanced quickly through the ranks of FloQast’s Sales team. Prior to joining the team in March 2018, Kimmy identified FloQast’s rapid growth and room for professional development as ideal qualities in a company. Since then, she’s risen from business development representative to account executive and helped define the culture on FloQast’s sales team.
What about the company and its employees made you choose FloQast?
It’s close to where I live (which is important in LA)! I was impressed with FloQast’s growth trajectory and the potential for personal advancement in my sales career. During the interview process, I loved the high energy in the office and the kitchen; who doesn’t want unlimited snacks?
What is one of your favorite things about working at FloQast?
By far, the people. We have some incredible people in this company, specifically on the sales floor! Everyone is friendly and willing to help and learn from each other. There is no ego and it’s nice to be on a team where you feel like your coworkers have your back. Proud to call them my friends!
What makes FloQast stand out?
The actual FloQast product. FloQast has built something special that truly helps accounting teams do their jobs better and faster. It’s pretty easy to work in sales when the product you are selling is legit and there are a ton of customers to vouch for it.
What would you say to someone considering joining the FloQast team?
You will learn a lot. In my time being here, I have acquired sales techniques, mastered multiple software systems, attained accounting knowledge, collaborated with different teams in the organization, taught and trained new employees, and learned what I needed to be successful at my job. And the office-warehouse space is pretty cool.
Having recently celebrated his two-year anniversary at FloQast, Customer Success Manager Andy Sietsema growth within the company is a testament to the company’s vision, his tenacious, professional attitude, and his San Fernando Valley roots.
What about the company and its employees made you choose FloQast?
When I was looking for a job closer to my family a couple of years ago, FloQast checked all the boxes for me. It was a well-funded startup that had excellent reviews — both from customers and employees — which is not an easy accomplishment. As I learned more about the opportunity in close management software and interviewing with my future co-workers, I could tell that the company culture was positive and inviting.
What is one of your favorite things about working at FloQast?
The high volume of Dodger fans in the office 😉
Seriously, though, my favorite thing about working at FloQast is how easy it is to collaborate and learn about the various departments in the company. There really are no stupid questions and no shortage of resources available to succeed. FloQast gives you the chance to meet some really awesome people with different backgrounds and job functions.
What makes FloQast stand out among other companies?
The health benefits are superb and the company’s location in Sherman Oaks is convenient, whether you’re living in the San Fernando Valley, Hollywood, or West LA. Our co-founders have a very cool story, built a solid product, and they are very transparent leaders.
What would you say to someone considering joining the FloQast team?
You’re either an accountant and aware of the pains involved with a company’s month-end close process, or you’re not an accountant, and as you learn, you’re going to wonder how it’s possible that it took so long for software to be developed to streamline the month-end close process. Either way, you’ll work with some great people that are solving a common problem for accounting teams everywhere.
